Overview
Pinus coulteri, known as the Coulter or Bigcone Pine, is a robust conifer native to coastal California. It boasts the largest cones of any pine species, reaching up to 12 inches in length and weighing up to 10 pounds. This tree typically attains heights of 33-79 feet. Its stiff, sharp needles are arranged in fascicles of three. Hardy and drought-tolerant, it prefers full sun and well-drained soils.
