Engelmann Spruce
Picea engelmannii
Overview
The Engelmann Spruce, Picea engelmannii, thrives in USDA zones 3-7, ascending to heights of 70-100 feet with a 15-30 feet spread. Admired for its pyramidal form and blue-green needles, this coniferous evergreen exhibits a moderately fast growth rate with a preference for full sun and well-drained soils. Its dense foliage provides excellent wind resistance, making it a robust choice for screens and background plantings in expansive landscapes.
