The Balsam Fir (Abies balsamea) is a North American native evergreen with a classic pyramidal shape, reaching up to 50-75 feet tall and 20-25 feet wide. Renowned for its fragrant, dark green needles, measuring around 0.75 to 1.5 inches long, this coniferous tree yields resin-filled blisters on its bark and upright cones. Ideal for cold climates, it thrives in USDA zones 3-6 and prefers moist, slightly acidic soil.
