Overview

Southern Red Oak (Quercus falcata) is a robust, deciduous tree with a broad, rounded crown and sturdy, far-reaching branches. Mature specimens reach 70 to 80 feet in height, with canopies up to 60-70 feet wide. Noted for its shiny, lobed foliage turning rich red-orange in autumn, it thrives in well-drained soils and full sun. Durable and drought-tolerant, it serves as an excellent shade tree in expansive landscape designs.
