Overview
The Shrubby Penstemon (Penstemon fruticosus) is a perennial shrub standing 2-3 feet tall, suited to USDA zones 4-8. This hardy native features clusters of tubular pink-purple flowers that attract pollinators from late spring to early summer. Leaves are evergreen, lending year-round interest to rock gardens and borders. Prefers well-drained soils and tolerates drought once established. Space plants 18-24 inches apart to accommodate their bushy spread.
