Overview
The Penstemon barbatus 'Dark Amethyst' is a mounded perennial with dark green foliage and vivid reddish-purple tubular flowers that attract bees and hummingbirds. It grows 18-22 inches tall and 20-26 inches wide. Best in full sun with average to fertile, well-drained soil, it dislikes wet winter conditions and benefits from added gravel in heavy soils. Hardy in USDA Zones 4-8.
