Island Tree Mallow
Lavatera Assurgentiflora
Overview
The Island Tree Mallow, Lavatera assurgentiflora, native to California's Channel Islands, is a robust perennial shrub reaching 10-15 ft. tall with an equal spread. Its distinctive heart-shaped leaves frame showy 2-3 inch wide, deep pink to lavender blossoms that bloom spring through fall. Preferring full sun, it adapts to various soils and proves drought-tolerant once established. Ideal for adding a splash of color and attracting pollinators to coastal-themed gardens.
