Mexican Fire Barrel
Ferocactus Pilosus
Overview
The Ferocactus pilosus, colloquially known as the Mexican Fire Barrel, is a striking cactus that boasts vivid red spines and a cylindrical form. Mature specimens reach up to 2.5 feet tall and 1 foot wide, flourishing in dry, well-drained soils. Adorning its top are bright red or yellow flowers in summer, which entice pollinators. Low-maintenance, it's ideal for hot, arid landscapes seeking a bold, architectural accent. Zones 9-11.
