Teddy Bear Cholla

Overview

The Teddy Bear Cholla (Cylindropuntia bigelovii) is a distinctive cactus native to the Southwest, characterized by dense clusters of golden spines that give a soft, fuzzy appearance. This upright plant typically reaches 3-5 feet in height. Its segmented joints easily detach, aiding in propagation. Preferring full sun and well-drained soil, it's an eye-catching, low-maintenance choice for xeriscaped areas. Caution: the spines are sharp and can attach to the skin.
