Silver Torch (Cleistocactus strausii) is a striking columnar cactus, native to high altitudes of Bolivia. It reaches up to 10 feet tall, sporting multiple slender stems about 2.5 inches in diameter, densely covered with silvery spines. This cactus prefers well-drained soils and full sun to partial shade. In summer, mature plants produce tubular red or burgundy flowers. A low-maintenance choice, it adds vertical interest to xeric landscapes and rock gardens.
