Aloysia Virgata
Overview
The Sweet Almond Bush (Aloysia virgata) is a fragrant, semi-deciduous shrub reaching heights of 10 to 12 feet and spreading up to 6 feet wide. Its slender branches boast lance-shaped leaves and clusters of tiny, white flowers that emit a strong, sweet almond scent, particularly towards evening. Suitable for USDA zones 8-11, it thrives in full sun to part shade and requires well-drained soil. Prune regularly to maintain shape and encourage blooming.
