Indian Rice Grass

Overview

Indian Ryegrass, Achnatherum hymenoides, is a perennial bunchgrass standing 1-2 feet tall. It features narrow leaves and delicate, feathery seed heads that flourish in spring to summer. This drought-tolerant species thrives in USDA zones 4-9, requiring full sun and well-drained soils. Ideal for naturalistic designs, it provides texture, erosion control, and habitat for wildlife, adding movement and grace to arid landscapes.
