Giant Chain Fern

Overview

Giant Chain Fern (Woodwardia fimbriata) is a robust, evergreen fern indigenous to the Pacific Northwest. Mature specimens reach up to 4-6 feet tall and wide, showcasing long, arching fronds with a unique chain-like pattern of sori on the underside. Thriving in USDA zones 7-10, it prefers moist, shady locations with rich, well-draining soil. This fern adds a lush, prehistoric ambiance to shaded gardens and woodland settings.
