Inside-out Flower

Overview

Vancouveria hexandra, commonly called American Barrenwort, is a rhizomatous perennial, treasured for its delicate, intricate foliage resembling miniature duck feet. Thriving in USDA zones 5-9, it forms an elegant ground cover up to 18 inches tall and spreads to 24 inches wide. In late spring, diminutive white flowers dance atop wiry stems, enhancing dappled shade gardens. Prefers moist, well-drained soil and resists deer; a charming understory beneath larger plants.
