Desert Needle Grass
Stipa speciosa
Overview
Desert Needle Grass, Stipa speciosum, is an ornamental perennial native to arid regions. It grows 2-3 feet in height, thriving in full sun with well-drained soils. This grass features slender, silver-green foliage and distinctive, feathery awns that shimmer in the breeze. Low water requirements make it ideal for drought-resistant landscapes. Provides textural contrast and seasonal interest, particularly in rock gardens or as a mass planting backdrop. Zone 7-10.
