Overview

The Schizachyrium scoparium 'Brush Strokes' is an upright little bluestem with powder-blue stems that shift to wine-red in early fall, topped by tan plumes from late summer onward. It grows 32-36 inches tall and 22-26 inches wide. Best in full sun and dry to average, well-drained soil, it is low-water, heat tolerant, and deer resistant. Hardy in USDA Zones 3-9.
