Overview

Ruttya fruticosa, commonly known as 'Rabbit Ears,' is a distinctive shrub featuring vibrant, two-lipped flowers resembling rabbit ears. Thriving in full sun to partial shade, it reaches 3-5 feet in height and width. Preferring well-draining soil, this evergreen offers continuous blooms mainly in summer and fall. Its rapid growth and drought tolerance make it ideal for striking accents or hedges in USDA zones 9-11. Pruning maintains shape and encourages flowering.
