Blackberry
Rubus Ursinus
Overview
Rubus ursinus, commonly termed the Pacific blackberry, offers a dual-purpose landscape element with edible benefits. This deciduous bramble reaches up to 5 feet in height and thrives in USDA zones 6-9, requiring full sun to partial shade. Its arching canes, armed with thorns, bear clusters of white-to-pale-pink flowers before yielding succulent blackberries, ideal for U-pick gardens or wildlife habitats. Plant 3 to 4 feet apart for a dense thicket.
