Overview

Alpine Currant (Ribes alpinum) is a hardy, low-maintenance shrub, perfect for mass plantings or hedges. Mature at 3 to 6 feet tall and wide, with a compact form, it thrives in USDA zones 2-7. Adaptable to various soils, it prefers full sun to part shade. Leaves emerge glossy green, while insignificant yellow-green flowers bloom in spring. This dioecious plant may produce red berries if both sexes are present.
