Overview

The Panicum virgatum 'Heavy Metal', also known as Heavy Metal Switch Grass, is a North American native perennial grass known for its metallic blue-green foliage. Reaching 4 to 5 feet in height with a 2 to 3 feet spread, it provides erect, columnar form ideal in landscape design for vertical interest. In late summer, feathery pink-tinged blooms add texture, persisting through winter. Drought tolerant once established, it thrives in full sun. USDA Zones 4-9.
