'October Sky' Switch Grass

Overview

The Panicum virgatum 'October Sky' is an upright native switch grass with blue-green foliage and airy rosy-purple seedheads in late summer to fall. It matures at 54-60 inches tall and 24-30 inches wide, forming a sturdy vertical accent. Grow in full sun with average water; it tolerates sand, clay, drought, periodic flooding, wind, salt, and deer. Hardy in USDA Zones 4-9.
