Peony, Herbaceous & Tree

Overview

Peonies, with their sumptuous blooms and vibrant hues, come in two main forms: Herbaceous (Paeonia lactiflora), dying back each winter, and Tree Peonies (Paeonia suffruticosa), woody shrubs that retain structure year-round. Herbaceous types reach 2-3 feet tall and wide, while Tree Peonies can grow up to 4-5 feet tall and wide. Both prefer full sun to light shade and well-drained soil, offering a showy display from late spring to early summer.
