Desert Winterfat
Krascheninnikovia Lanata
Overview
Desert Winterfat, scientifically known as Krascheninnikovia lanata, is a hardy perennial shrub reaching 2-4 feet in height with a similar spread. It's prized for its silvery foliage and ability to thrive in arid conditions (USDA zones 4-9). Winterfat's fluffy white seed heads add a delicate texture to drought-tolerant landscapes. Requires full sun with minimal water once established, making it an excellent choice for xeriscaping and wildlife habitats.
