Blackberry Lily
Iris domestica
Overview
The Blackberry Lily, Belamcanda chinensis, is an easy-care perennial with a striking presence. Growing up to 2-3 feet tall and 1 foot wide, it boasts vibrant orange flowers speckled with red dots, akin to a leopard's spots, which bloom in midsummer. This hardy plant prefers full sun to partial shade and well-drained soil. After blossoms fade, clusters of shiny black seeds resembling blackberries provide lasting ornamental interest. Zones 5-10.
