Overview
The Hydrangea macrophylla × serrata is a mounded deciduous hydrangea with lush green foliage and lacecap blooms that turn violet-purple in acidic soil or saturated pink in alkaline conditions. It matures 3-4 feet tall and about 3 feet wide. Plant in part sun to sun, with afternoon shade in hot climates, fertile well-drained soil, and average moisture. Hardy in USDA Zones 4-9.
