Bottle Gentian

Overview

Bottle Gentian (Gentiana andrewsii) is a perennial with a unique, closed bloom resembling a deep blue to purple bottle, rarely opening to reveal its interior. It thrives in hardiness zones 3-7 and prefers moist, well-drained soils in full to partial shade. This low-maintenance plant reaches 1-2 feet in height and blooms late summer through fall, attracting pollinators. Ideal for woodland gardens, it provides a striking color accent and textural contrast.
