Cascara

Overview

Cascara, or 'Frangula purshiana', thrives in USDA zones 5-9 and matures to 15-30 feet tall with a spread of 10-15 feet. It features glossy green leaves and inconspicuous yellowish flowers that give way to small, purple-black berries. Preferring well-drained soil and partial to full sun, Cascara is perfect for adding a vertical element to native plant gardens while serving as an important wildlife attractant, offering habitat and food sources.
