Overview

The Ocotillo (Fouquieria splendens), also known as Coachwhip, is a striking desert plant native to the Southwest USA. Growing 15-30 feet tall, it features long, spiny, whip-like canes that burst with fiery red tubular flowers after rainfall, attracting hummingbirds. Thrives in well-drained soils; full sun; USDA Zone 7-11. Low water needs once established. Ideal for xeriscaping, providing dramatic vertical accents in arid garden designs.
