Rubber Plant, Rubber Tree
Ficus Elastica
Overview
Ficus elastica, commonly called the Rubber Plant, is a robust evergreen tree known for its glossy, leather-like leaves, which can grow up to 12 inches long. Tolerant of low-light conditions, it prefers well-draining soil and moderate moisture. With time, it can reach heights of 25-30 feet outdoors. In landscapes, it serves as a striking specimen plant or privacy screen. Hardy in USDA zones 10-12, it thrives in warm, humid climates.
