Creeping Red Fescue, Red Fescue
Festuca Rubra
Overview
Creeping Red Fescue (Festuca rubra) is a fine-textured, cool-season grass, valued for its shade tolerance and low maintenance. It establishes dense, deep root systems, thriving in well-drained soils. This grass prefers a height of 1.5 to 2.5 inches, with a clumping growth habit. Its rich green color and hardiness suit ornamental lawns and erosion control. Ideal for temperate regions, it tolerates light foot traffic and partial sunlight.
