Overview
Eriogonum umbellatum, commonly called Sulfur Flower, is a compact, drought-tolerant perennial that thrives in USDA zones 4-8. It sports clusters of bright yellow flowers atop 12-inch tall stems, with a 15-inch spread. This sun-loving native favors well-drained soils, blooming from late spring to early fall, and attracts pollinators. It's excellent for rock gardens and borders, offering vibrant foliage that shifts to red-orange in autumn.
