Duchesnea Indica

Design with this plant

Overview

The Indian Mock Strawberry, Duchesnea indica, is a fast-spreading ground cover with kidney-shaped leaves and yellow flowers. It produces small red fruits resembling true strawberries, typically around 0.5 inch in diameter, but they are tasteless. Thriving in USDA zones 5-9, it prefers partial to full sun and reaches about 3 inches in height, while spreading up to 18 inches. This plant is an attractive filler, though not valued for its fruit.
