Overview
The Buttercup Winterhazel (Corylopsis pauciflora) is a deciduous shrub, prized for its early spring fragrance. It grows to 4-5 ft tall and 6-7 ft wide, flourishing in part shade. Pendulous clusters of butter-yellow flowers deck its bare branches before 3-inch ovate leaves emerge. This easy-care plant prefers moist, well-drained soil. Ideal for woodland gardens, it adds a delicate, textural presence and a burst of yellow to the early-season landscape.
