Overview

Casuarina equisetifolia, commonly known as Horsetail Tree, is an evergreen, slender yet sturdy conifer, reaching heights of 30-115 ft. It features jointed green stems resembling needle-like leaves, creating a fine, feathery texture. Appearances notwithstanding, it's not a true pine. Its deep root system allows for excellent erosion control, while the small, cone-like fruits add interest. Thrives in well-drained, sandy soils and tolerates salt spray, making it ideal for coastal landscapes.
