Pennsylvania Sedge
Carex Pensylvanica
Overview
Carex pensylvanica, or Pennsylvania Sedge, is a resilient, low-maintenance perennial grass. It features fine-textured, arching green blades, growing 6-12 inches tall with a 12-18 inches spread. Thriving in USDA zones 3-8, it prefers partial to full shade and tolerates dry soil, making it ideal for woodland gardens. This sedge forms a dense carpet, excellent for erosion control, and offers a native groundcover option that's deer-resistant and drought-tolerant.
