Appalachian Sedge

Overview

Appalachian Sedge (Carex appalachica) is a graceful, clump-forming, native perennial, thriving in USDA zones 4-8. Preferring part shade, it reaches 6-12 inches in height, with a spread of up to 18 inches. Its fine-textured, green foliage forms dense tufts, adding a wispy, flowing texture to shaded landscapes. Tolerant of dry soil, it’s ideal for woodland gardens, border fronts, and as ground cover, requiring minimal care once established.
