Overview
Bletilla striata, commonly called Chinese Ground Orchid, is a hardy terrestrial orchid admired for its elegant, pleated leaves and vibrant spring blooms. Thriving in USDA zones 5-9, it prefers partial shade and well-drained soil, reaching up to 15-24 inches in height. Clusters of purple-pink flowers, resembling small Cattleyas, make it a standout in woodland gardens. Plant in groups for a charming, naturalized effect. Protect from heavy frost.
