Oregon Grape
Berberis Nervosa
Overview
Longleaf Barberry (Berberis nervosa) is an evergreen shrub, noted for its holly-like, leathery leaves. Thriving in USDA zones 5-8, it matures to 1.5-2 feet high and spreads 3-4 feet wide. Preferring partial shade and well-drained acidic soil, the plant's yellow spring flowers and blue-black berries are wildlife attractants. Its dense, low growth habit makes it ideal for shady ground cover and woodland gardens.
