Design with this plant

Overview

Astilbe chinensis 'Pumila' is a compact perennial known for its vigorous growth and dense, lilac-purple plumes, reaching 8-12 inches high. This dwarf variety thrives in partial to full shade and moist, well-drained soil. Its late-summer blooms add color when many others fade. Ideal for borders or as ground cover, 'Pumila' attracts pollinators and resists deer. Hardy in zones 4-8, it combines well with ferns and hostas.
