Overview
The Thorn-crested Agave (Agave lophantha), or 'Big Lechuguilla', captivates with sharp, sword-like leaves, spanning 2-3 feet long, that feature a striking, pale green central stripe. This rosette-forming perennial thrives in USDA zones 8-11 and requires minimal water, making it an ideal drought-tolerant accent. Its modest mature spread of around 4-6 feet accommodates tight spaces gracefully. Note: Its sharp spines necessitate careful placement away from high-traffic areas.
