Black Snakeroot, or Actaea racemosa, is a striking perennial native to North American woodlands. It features bottlebrush spires of fragrant white flowers that bloom in late summer, reaching up to 6 feet tall. With a spread of 2-4 feet, this shade-lover adds vertical interest in woodland or shaded garden areas. Its deep green, compound leaves turn a subtle yellow in fall, providing a delicate seasonal transition. Hardy in zones 3-8.
