Overview
Bear's Breech (Acanthus mollis) is an evergreen perennial, notable for its bold foliage and towering flower spikes. It reaches 3-5 feet tall and spreads up to 2-3 feet wide. Its deeply lobed leaves add texture, while white and purple flowers on tall stalks bloom in summer. Ideal for USDA zones 7-10, it prefers partial shade and well-drained soil, and is drought-tolerant once established. Adds architectural interest to borders and focal points.
