Catclaw Acacia
Acacia Greggii
Overview
Catclaw Acacia (Acacia greggii) is a drought-resistant shrub, thriving in zones 7-11. Its angular branches span 15-25 ft, adorned with sharp, claw-like thorns. Feather-like leaves complement yellow spring blossoms, attracting pollinators. This hardy native requires minimal water once established, making it an excellent low-maintenance choice for xeriscape designs. Prefers full sun and well-drained soils. Be mindful of thorns when placing near pedestrian areas.
